About Motiva Preservé Breast Augmentation
Motiva Preservé is a variation of breast augmentation that uses less invasive measures to refine the shape and fullness of your breasts. This procedure uses specialized tools and techniques that avoid incising the internal structures of your breast, allowing you to achieve natural-looking results as safely as possible. This procedure is only performed by a select number of surgeons, with Dr. Zarrabi being one of these experts.
What Type of Implants are Used?
Dr. Zarrabi uses the Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® Breast Implants when performing Motiva Preservé, which are a unique type of form-stable silicone implant. (2) These implants can move and adapt along with your body. They appear rounder when you lie down and more anatomical when standing up. With these implants, you can achieve transformative results that still look and feel natural and authentic to you.
Benefits At-A-Glance
- Motiva Preservé maintains the natural structure and function of your breasts, including your nipples and chest muscles.
- This procedure avoids incising the underlying breast tissues to prevent unnecessary damage.
- The Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® breast implants behave similarly to natural breast tissue.
- You may be able to return to light activities the day of your procedure or the day after. This is a significant difference from the 1–2 week downtime that traditional breast augmentation requires.
Motiva Preservé Candidates
You may be a suitable candidate for Motiva Preservé if you want to add fullness to your breasts to achieve subtle yet profound improvements.
You should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. It is also important that you do not have any sensitivities or allergies to silicone. Dr. Zarrabi will determine your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, Dr. Zarrabi will ask about your medical history, personal concerns, and ideal aesthetic. He will also perform a physical evaluation to assess your breasts, take measurements, and discuss your options.
Dr. Zarrabi will use this information to create your customized treatment plan.

Preparation
After scheduling your procedure, you will need to make several preparations. Dr. Zarrabi will give you a comprehensive set of preoperative instructions, which may direct you to:
- Alter Your Medication Regimen: Discontinue certain medications or supplements that have blood-thinning or antiplatelet properties.
- Arrange Transportation: Have a trusted friend or relative take you home after your procedure.
- Request Time Away: Prepare to take a step back from your social and professional responsibilities.
- Fill Your Prescriptions: Pick up any medications you will need for your recovery.
- Refrain From Substance Use: Avoid consuming any alcohol or nicotine in the weeks leading up to your procedure, and fully abstain from them as you heal.
Procedure
Dr. Zarrabi performs each Motiva Preservé procedure on an outpatient basis at his surgical center. When you arrive for your procedure, he will meet with you to confirm your desired enhancements before cleansing your skin and preparing the treatment area. You will receive anesthesia for your comfort throughout the procedure.
Dr. Zarrabi will make a small incision in the crease beneath your breasts, also known as the inframammary fold. He will use the Motiva Channel Separator to create a tunnel to access the underlying structures of your breasts, eliminating the need to sever any internal tissues. Through this tunnel, Dr. Zarrabi will insert a Motiva Inflatable Balloon tool to gently push your internal breast structures and tissues aside, creating a pocket for the implant to rest in. He will then insert the implant.
Recovery
After your procedure, you may experience some swelling, bruising, or tenderness around your chest. These effects will subside on their own with time, but you may also manage them with medications and rest. Dr. Zarrabi may ask you to wear a compression bra as you recover, which will minimize additional swelling and maintain your curves as your tissues settle and heal.
You may return to most of your daily activities on the same day or the day after, which is significantly shorter than traditional breast augmentation recovery. However, you will need to refrain from any demanding or vigorous activities until Dr. Zarrabi approves.
Dr. Zarrabi will give you a full set of post-operative instructions so you understand what to expect.
Results
You will be able to enjoy the full results of your Motive Preservé procedure once residual swelling dissipates. Motiva is known for its extremely natural-looking results that closely mimic natural breasts. The results of Motiva Preservé are long-lasting; however, breast implants are not lifetime devices, and you will eventually need to get them replaced. (3) Patients typically have their implants for 10-20 years before undergoing a replacement or removal procedure. Motiva implants have been praised for their potential to reduce risks of certain complications, including capsular contracture, so they are often thought to last longer than other types of implants.

FAQ
What makes Motiva Preservé different from traditional breast augmentation?
Motiva Preservé uses techniques that avoid cutting your breast tissue to maintain its natural structures and minimize excess damage. Instead, Dr. Zarrabi creates a precise tunnel and pocket with special tools to place the implant. Meanwhile, traditional breast augmentations incise several layers of tissue throughout the procedure. Because it is less invasive, Motiva Preservé breast augmentation offers a much shorter recovery and minimizes several risks associated with the traditional procedure.
What type of implants will Dr. Zarrabi use?
Motiva Preservé features Motiva SmoothSilk Ergonomix breast implants. These are a type of silicone implant that can adapt to your body’s movements in a way that is similar to how natural breast tissue does. Motiva implants are also known for their ability to reduce risks such as capsular contracture.
Can Dr. Zarrabi perform Motiva Preservé during a revision procedure?
No, Dr. Zarrabi can only perform Motiva Preservé during primary breast augmentation procedures and primary augmentation mastopexies.
Will Motiva Preservé breast augmentation affect nipple sensation or my ability to breastfeed?
It is unlikely that the Motiva Preservé breast augmentation procedure would affect the sensation of your nipples or your ability to breastfeed. This is because this procedure preserves your breasts’ natural structures, nerves, and ligaments with special techniques.
Does Motiva Preservé breast augmentation cause any significant scarring on the breasts?
Because this procedure is still surgical in nature, there will be some scarring where Dr. Zarrabi places the incisions along the breast crease. This area is chosen so that the incision is hidden in the natural crease; scars often become less noticeable over time as well. Any scarring will be easily hidden beneath bras, swimsuits, and revealing tops.
Can I still get breast implants if I do not qualify for Motiva Preservé?
This is possible—but a consultation is needed to know for certain. Dr. Zarrabi encourages all patients to contact the office if they are unsure about their eligibility. At a personal consultation, he will help you explore your breast augmentation options and let you know if you may be eligible for a different type of implants.
How long do breast implants last?
Breast implants typically need to be replaced after about 10–20 years, with modern advancements. This depends on the type of implant and the patient’s individual experience. Motiva implants are often praised for being especially long-lasting compared to more conventional implant models.
